Shyam Benegal | Legendary director and producer Shyam Benegal is suffering from kidney related problems. He was informed that both his kidneys were failing. It is known that this matter was revealed in the tests conducted two days ago. In this order, he is undergoing dialysis at his residence. Doctors advised him to take rest considering his current health condition.
The staff said that 88-year-old Shyam Benegal’s health has deteriorated recently, so he is not even going to the office. Shyam Benegal has produced and directed many successful films. He has received many accolades till date including 18 National Best Film Awards, Filmfare and Nandi Award. He received the Dadasaheb Phalke Award, India’s highest award, in 2005 for his services to Indian cinema. Before that he was honored with Padma Shri and Padma Bhushan by the Government of India.
He is recognized with the films ‘Zubeda’, ‘Mammo’ and ‘Welcome to Sajjanpur’. He is survived by wife Neera Benegal and daughter Priya Benegal. Priya Bengal has worked as a costume designer for many films. Currently, Shyam Benegal is working for the movie ‘Mujeeb: The Making of a Nation’. It is reported that the film is being made based on the life of the first president of Bangladesh, Mujibur Rahman. However, the release has been delayed due to controversies.
