He said that Samantha was not considered for the role of Sakunthalam in the movie Sakunthalam, but after watching the movie Rangasthalam, he approached Sam for this role. Gunasekhar said.. “The pre-production work of this film took a year. We thought six months for shooting. But it took 81 days. After that, we completed the post production work for a year and a half. So it took me three years to prepare this film.
Also I read how Kalidasa describes Shakuntas. I thought about who would be good for that role… I didn’t think of taking Samantha at first. My daughter said Samantha would be better. At that time I saw the movie Rangasthalam again. I understand how much Sam fits into a character. Then I contacted her,” he said. The movie will be released in Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam, Kannada and Hindi languages on April 14.
