Mumbai: Sameer Kakkar (71), who was a popular character in the 1980s Doordarshan hit show Khopdi, has passed away. He has been suffering from breathing problems for some time now. Sameer Kakkar has been excelling as a stage, film and TV actor for four decades. He has been away from acting for a long time and settled in America since 1996 and recently returned to the country.
Kakkar last acted in the movie Jai Ho and also appeared in the TV show Sanjeevani. Sameer Kakkar, who is known for his Gujarati dramas, came into limelight with the TV show Nukkad. With this show, he became a popular character artist. TV shows like Circus, Naya Nukkad, Sriman Srimathi, Maniranjan, Adalat brought him a lot of fame.
Sameer Kakkar has also appeared in films like Ayana Hasee To Fasee, Patel Ko Punjabi Shaadi, Pushkak, Parinda, Shahensha. Recently he has acted in Amazon Prime Video Furgy, G5 Sunflower and Sudhir Mishra’s Serious Men shows.
