The England Cricket Board released the schedule of the women’s and men’s Ashes series to be held next year. Keeping in mind the long standing demand of women cricketers, finally the England and Australian boards decided to make this Test match five days instead of four.

With this, the 30-year-old wait will also end. This will be only the second Test in women’s cricket, which will be five days. Earlier in 1992, there was a five-day Test between the two teams.

On this decision of both the boards, England’s legendary captain Heather Knight also expressed great happiness and tweeted.

There was constant demand

Earlier this year, the Ashes Test was played between the two teams, which was of only four days. The result of the match could not come out due to the absence of the fifth day. Due to this, there was a constant demand to make the women’s test for 5 days also. Not only this test, but last year India-England and then India-Australia Test also could not reach any conclusion due to being of four days.

Not only that, these Test matches will be held in England’s premier Test venue instead of a second-class ground; Will be played at Trent Bridge, Nottingham from 22 July. Apart from this, there will also be three T20 and three ODI matches in this series.

Change in Men’s Ashes for Hundred

Along with this, England Cricket also released the schedule of the men’s Ashes series, which will start with the Birmingham Test from 16 June and the last Test match will start from 27 July at the Oval in London. This time the England Cricket Board has decided to start the Ashes series a month in advance keeping in mind its flagship franchise tournament The Hundred.
