The 18-year-old batsman scored a record-breaking century, then defeated his own team in the T20 match! Watch Video

There is a saying in cricket that records are meant to be broken as soon as they are made. Only 18-year-old French batsman Gustav Macon has proved this thing right. The record of the youngest T20 International century has been set in the name of this right-handed batsman. Gustav accomplished this feat against Switzerland in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup Sub-Regional Europe Qualifier match. Gustav has scored a T20 century at the age of just 18 years, 280 days.

Gustav broke Jajai’s record

French batsman Gustav has broken the record of Hazratullah Zazai of Afghanistan. Who scored a century at the age of 20 years, 337 days. Jajai did this feat in 2019. However, his record was destroyed within 3 years. Gustav played an innings of 109 runs in 61 balls against Switzerland in which his bat hit 9 sixes and 5 fours. Gustav’s strike rate was more than 178. However, despite his century, France had to face defeat.

Gustav’s century but France’s defeat

Gustav scored a record-breaking century but his team had to face a crushing defeat. Despite Gustav’s century, the French team could score only 157 runs in 20 overs. In reply, Switzerland won by one wicket off the last ball.

thrilling win for switzerland

Let us tell you that Switzerland needed 16 runs to win in the last over. The French team seemed to win the match easily but the whole match was overturned in the last three balls. The Swiss team’s batsman Salim, who scored only four runs in the first three balls, gave the team victory by hitting a six off the fourth ball, two runs on the fifth ball and a four on the sixth ball. The Swiss team needed four runs on the last ball and the bowling century was being done by Gustav Macon and he failed to avoid the team’s defeat. Macon’s poor bowling overshadowed his century.
