The league stage of the IPL 2022 season has finally reached its end. In the tournament that started from 26 March, 70 matches were to be played in the league stage and on Sunday 22 May this league stage ended with the clash of Sunrisers Hyderabad and Punjab Kings (SRH vs PBKS). In the 70th match played at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai, Punjab defeated Hyderabad by 5 wickets and with this the last change in the points table of the season was seen. With this win, Punjab jumped one place to take the sixth position, while Hyderabad could not make any changes in their place.
This match was not to have any effect on the outcome of the season, as both the teams were out of the playoff race 3 days ago. In such a situation, there was a good end to the season with only victory in this match and a chance to get ahead of the second in the points table. The performance of Punjab and Hyderabad was not consistent throughout this season and had to bear the brunt. Especially Hyderabad, which was once in a good position, but finished eighth with the last match.
These five teams topped
In this way, after completing all 70 matches, Gujarat Titans, Rajasthan Royals, Lucknow Super Giants and Royal Challengers Bangalore made their place in the top four of the points table. Out of these, only Rajasthan is the only team that has tasted the title. Bangalore had lost in the final thrice, while Gujarat and Lucknow have made it to the last four, doing wonders in the debut season itself. Now the title of this season will be contested between these four. At the same time, after these four, Delhi Capitals were at number five, which lost their chance to reach the playoffs due to defeat in their last match.
fleet of champions gark
In this season of 10 teams, the second part of the points table was filled with champion teams. The sixth place was Punjab, which once again missed out on reaching the playoffs. However, unlike the previous several seasons, this time the team won 7 matches instead of 6. Below this are the four teams in the remaining four places, which won the titles from 2010 to 2021 season. Two-time champions KKR finished seventh, while 2016 winners Hyderabad finished eighth. The two most successful teams of the league, Chennai Super Kings (four titles) and five-time champions Mumbai Indians, finished last i.e. 10th.
